Betting on the relegation ‘dog-fight’
In soccer’s English Premier League, Liverpool have been confirmed as champions. So the attention turns to the bottom of the table, where 3 of a possible 6 teams will be relegated from the league.
The scrap for survival creates a great anomaly for soccer betting. Season after season, the lower ranked teams tend to hit top form for the last 5 matches, in a desperate attempt to retain a spot in the big league.
Looking at this year’s battle, it’s fair to assume bottom-placed Norwich City are doomed.
But it’s all to play for between:
And even Brighton could be dragged into the deep end. Especially as 3 of their next 4 matches are against top 5 teams.
On the other hand, West Ham’s fixtures are kind. If you’re looking for value, back the Hammers to hit form and pick up points against the likes of Newcastle, Burnley and Norwich in the weeks to come.
MLB’s mini season gets prepared
Good news, folks! The MLB will be the first major US sport to return to our screens, with a 60-game mini season commencing July 23rd or 24th.
NBA back in business
There is much conjecture this week regarding the NBA’s proposed 22-team play off series at Walt Disney World.
A number of NBA stars have recently tested positive for Covid-19 and Florida is now one of the worst hotspots for the virus. This does not appear to have derailed the plans for a late July tip off.
NFL on schedule
NFL bosses have been consistent in their stance since March, that the full 2020 season will be completed.
After team owners met via conference call this week to discuss the status of pre season plans, they confirmed most teams will open training camps on July 28th and play out a diluted pre season schedule.
Meanwhile, the annual Hall Of fame game has been scrubbed, as have the season’s international games in London and Mexico City.
But the good news is we are very much on course for a September 10th return.
