It’s that time of the week again! With the international break looming large, soccer teams will be keen to head into the interval with a positive result. Speaking of positive results, we had 2 winners and 1 push last weekend – that’s better than Man City’s form this season!

Man City -1.5 handicap at odds of 1.73

Man City v Arsenal
English Premier League
Saturday 11:30am UTC

Arsenal have had a torrid start to the season. Back-to-back 2-0 losses against newly-promoted Brentford and Chelsea mean they sit 19th having not scored a goal. A trip to Champions Man City is hardly the tonic they need, but City will be licking their lips. Arsenal managed a win in the League Cup on Wednesday night (6-0 v 2nd tier West Brom), however, they fielded a full-strength squad who may be feeling the strain of 3 matches in 1 week. Man City didn’t have a midweek fixture and should be fresh and raring to go after thumping Norwich 5-0 last weekend.

If Man City get an early goal, Arsenal’s heads will drop and the irresistible attacking force of Pep Guardiola’s side could have a field day. The -1.5 handicap looks to be generous in that respect.

Montpellier to win at 5.2

Lille v Montpellier
French Ligue 1
3pm (UTC)

After winning the Ligue 1 title last season, Lille have endured a poor start to their 2021/22 campaign. 2 Draws and 1 loss mean they sit 17th after 3 matches and now face a decent Montpellier side. 1 Win, 1 draw and 1 loss sees Montpellier sit 7th in the table, but they have the 2nd most potent attack in the division with 8 goals. This will be a concern for Lille, who have conceded the most of anyone, with 8 goals shipped in their 3 matches.

The price here is huge and still based on Lille’s form last season. The club have had serious financial issues over the summer with manager Christophe Galtier leaving, and now a number of players are being linked with transfers away. The dressing room won’t be happy and will certainly be unsettled. Montpellier at massive odds is the play here.

Roma to win at odds of 1.61

Salernitana v Roma
Italian Serie A
Sunday 6:45pm (UTC)

This match should be a walk in the park for Jose Mourinho’s Roma. Salernitana were promoted from Serie B last season and started with a poor 3-2 loss to Bologna. Bologna commanded 73% possession and should have won by a wider margin – Roma will take confidence from this and will be a much more stubborn opponent to break down. New signing Tammy Abraham came straight into Roma’s starting XI and notched 2 assists. With this cutting edge, Mourinho’s men should be able to break through a fairly flimsy defence.

Once the season settles down and results patterns form, you’d expect this price to be more like 1.33. So anything above 1.5 here is good value.
