AI Segment Following Strategic Spin-Off
South Korean technology conglomerate Kakao has outlined a bold financial and operational roadmap for the coming years, establishing a target to surpass 6 trillion won (approximately $4.3 billion) in revenue for its dedicated artificial intelligence operations by 2030.
Within this overall revenue goal, direct artificial intelligence services are projected to generate around 1 trillion won, underscoring the organization’s conviction in commercializing next-generation digital intelligence across its broader software ecosystem.
Growth Strategy & Revenue Goals
The long-term framework focuses on drastically expanding daily user engagement across Kakao’s digital platforms. By 2030, the firm aims to attract 20 million daily active users specifically for its artificial intelligence functionality.
Concurrently, executives intend to increase overall user engagement time on the core KakaoTalk platform by 50 percent. Achieving these performance benchmarks requires transforming standard chat environments into active, revenue-generating ecosystems capable of handling everyday transactions and automated workflows.
KakaoTalk AI Integration
A pivotal milestone in this strategy involves the unveiling of advanced intelligent agents embedded directly within the KakaoTalk messenger.
During an upcoming developer conference scheduled for October, Kakao plans to showcase a series of interactive digital assistants designed to perform complex end-to-end tasks without requiring users to exit the messaging interface.
These automated capabilities are engineered to streamline consumer actions, improve convenience, and unlock new monetization avenues directly inside the primary communications application.
Corporate Restructuring & Division Focus
To execute this ambitious expansion efficiently, Kakao is advancing a major corporate reorganization plan, separating operations into two specialized business entities: KakaoAI and KakaoX. While KakaoAI will focus strictly on scaling frontier computing solutions and service integration, KakaoX is tasked with achieving 10 trillion won in revenue by 2030 by overseeing key growth sectors, including financial technology, mobility services, and digital content distribution.
Through this dual-structure realignment, Kakao aims to enhance operational efficiency, increase competitiveness in key Asian tech sectors, and build a clearer framework for long-term strategic investments.
