The first-ever crypto traders fight night announced

The 2-time WBA world champion, Amir Khan has announced that the first-ever Crypto Fight Night event will take place in Dubai on the 16th of October 2021. According to the organizer Super Boxing League, the event is a bid “to showcase that Dubai is the future hub of blockchain.”

Boxing fans have witnessed several novelty boxing matches in the last few years and they’ll now be able to witness crypto traders stepping into the ring. RookieXBT and Loomdart headline the card, while there are 3 crypto trader bouts on the undercard. The event will also feature a title fight between heavyweight boxers, Mohammad Ali Bayat Fari and Hemi Ahio.

The event is sponsored by SBL in association with the World Boxing Council (WBC), the crypto exchange ByBit and a UAE Sheikh. Khan’s involvement in the event lies in the fact that he’s the chairman of SBL and the WBC Middle East president.

The winner of the Crypto Fight Night is set to receive a special WBC Crypto belt which is hardly surprising as the WBC is infamous for jumping at any opportunity to commission a new belt.

Most of the previous novelty bouts proved to be wholly uninspired, exploitative marketing schemes where all the parties were on the take. However, Crypto Fight Night aims to change this, by donating the night’s profits to the Amir Khan Foundation.

Indian Premier League team slams Elon Musk on Twitter

In a bizarre turn of events, the Indian Premier League (IPL) team Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) sent out a tweet criticizing Elon Musk over bitcoin mining.

The tweet read “Tesla got $1.5bn in environmental subsidies in 2020, funded by the taxpayer. It turned around and spent $1.5bn on Bitcoin, which is mostly mined with electricity from coal.”

The statements are factually correct and would have been entirely justified were they posted 7 months earlier. However, the tweet was deleted shortly after it went viral, with the RCB claiming their account was hacked.

The RCB tweet was a reply to Musk’s announcement about his new dog, which bears the name Floki. Musk’s tweet went on to affect the price of 2 meme-based tokens that leverage the “Floki” name. The token, Shiba floki (FLOKI) jumped close to 1000% in 24 hours after the tweet was made.

Inter Miami signs jersey sponsorship deal with crypto firm

David Beckham’s Inter Miami has announced that the team has entered into its first shirt sponsorship with the XTBO Group, a prominent, global crypto finance firm. The partnership marks the first crypto sponsorship deal in Major League Soccer (MLS) and is reportedly also one of the biggest deals in MLS to date.

XBTO will be fully integrated across Inter Miami’s platforms and will also be prominently featured at Inter Miami’s stadium in Fort Lauderdale going forward.
